Learning that you are not able to get pregnant is devastating. Most people grow up with the expectation that they will be able to successfully conceive a child when they choose to do so. Finding out that this is not readily possible is shocking and gut wrenching.
I have witnessed this pain and suffering first hand in observing Lina and Russell Mobley’s failed journey to have a baby. Of any people in this vast universe, Lina and Russell Mobley should be parents! They are the most loving, caring, thoughtful, hard-working, honest Christian couple I know. They want nothing more than to be a “mommy and daddy” to their own child.
However, Lina and Russell have been unable to make their dreams come true naturally, despite their friends and family being able to easily get pregnant, repeatedly. The “plan” was for Lina and Russell, along with their long time close knit group of friends and relatives of similar age, to have children at the same time---to raise their kids together, thereby extending their legacy so that their children would be like family to one another as they are.
Lina and Russell sought medical help with their fertility issues---and it has been a grueling process. Lina has stated that her “heart was breaking into pieces,” that she “was losing hope” and “felt like giving up.” While significant medical advances in fertility continue to be made every day, the cost of attempting IVF (the couple’s “only chance” according to doctors) is enormously expensive! The average cost of IVF is $15,000.00.
