Hi! My name is Brooke, and I am trying to make a new start in California. I have a new job here, but it is not enough to pay the $4400 vehicle registration fee on my car right away. 

Back story

The worst obstacle I have had to deal with is depression. It started in college when I entered UNC-Chapel Hill. My grades slipped, and I had to get special permission to remain enrolled. I never got to finish there, and I was devastated.

Living with depression is no joke. But, that is what I have been doing for years. I finally got my applied science degree in biotechnology in 2012 at Gaston College. Then, with hard work and by the skin of my teeth, I got a bachelor's degree in biology in 2016 at UNC-Charlotte.

I have worked in several labs and my new job is in biotechnology. I have pulled myself out of the abyss and proved to myself that I can maintain employment and be successful.

Why I am fundraising

I tried to register my car and they asked for $4400.00! Working full-time in the coming months, my budget falls short of paying vehicle registration. I am asking for $4400 so my car will not be impounded. Without my car, I won't be able to go to work.

How you can help

I’ve asked my parents for help, but they have exhausted their resources to get me this far. Getting help with this expense will enable me to drive my car legally to get to work.
