I'm a 1st year Student Midwife at Birthwise Midwifery School! I Love my degree/job, but I'm struggling to fund myself through School. I'm not asking for a specific amount, just whatever can be spared, to help make my burden a little lighter. I am answering the call to support our women in the state of Florida who need a culturally relevant midwife and health care provider that is willing to support low income and women of color.
The Midwifery Program is a 3-year degree program, It's a very time and energy demanding degree and this leaves me with little to no time/energy to work a job alongside the degree to bring some extra money in for living expenses and travel expenses.
My travel costs to and from school and/or the Birth Centers that I will be working with are roughly $200 to $400 per month, sometimes more, depending on how many shifts I have in a week and where I am placed. When working on clinicals I will need to stay in an Airbnb or an Extended Stay for 1 to 6 months at a time and that will also cost me.
I need money for other things like food on occasions, clothing, toiletries, textbooks, and stationery for studying and other inescapable living costs.
If you can give anything at all, it would be greatly appreciated. I love my degree, I am super passionate about it, however, coping with the inherent physical and emotional stress that comes with the nature of my work becomes much harder when I am worried constantly about whether I will have enough money to get through the rest of the course.
