Help! Kayla has a big heart and unfortunately her big heart has a big problem!
My name is Ryan, I am creating this page to help reach out for support for my girlfriend and our families. Anyone who knows Kayla knows she is a huge giver and has also been debilitated by her rare heart condition of Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia that she has been suffering from for 15 years In WA state, over the years, she has exhausted all options for treatment.
Her condition has progressed over the years. She has severely high heart rate at all times, episodes of passing out, inability to exert herself, loss of quality of life causing depression and anxiety and a hardship of not being active for her 3 young kids as a single mom. Even with all these things she still won't say no to her kids and countless days of wildwaves, camping, going to the lake and much more even though she knows that she will have a very hard time making it, not only does she do this for her own kids but usually gathers up neighborhood kids and takes them too. She has struggled with medical bills and loss of work due to this for many years and hospitalized in cardiac ICU. She's seen over 5 Electrophysiologists, 3 cardiologists, endless testing with no more options.
She has been offered heart surgery here in WA that is likely to lead her to a pacemaker as her only option- I found her a heart surgeon in Kansas City, Dr. DJ Lakkireddy whom is going to perform a specialized heart surgery for her condition in which he is the expert on that is a rare but promising. In order to do this, we will need to fly to Kansas for a consult with a cardiothoracic surgeon whom will team with him for this heart surgery and then Myself and her parents will be flying down for a couple weeks for surgery and recovery once again.
We are doing our best supporting her health needs and navigating our day to day lives around it but this entire process is extremely costly/time consuming between, time off work, travel, child care while we are gone and insurance coverage. Her parents and I are doing what we can to cover costs but are hoping anyone who can help are willing to get my girlfriend living a life where she can walk up the stairs and carry her kids without worry.
Thank you - Ryan
