Assist Tommy Gurganus in His Recovery

Hello everyone,

I am sharing this for my friend, Tommy Gurganus. He was very sick and he has an autoimmune disease that has attacked his muscles and his speech. He is home now, but he's having to go through intense therapy. He's used to working for the waste industries by driving a truck and he dearly loves that. Right now, he is unable to work and needs assistance. Any kind of help with his expenses would be greatly appreciated. He goes to outpatient speech and outpatient therapy. Tommy can only eat soft foods because the throat is a muscle, and if it's not soft and/or chopped very fine, he could choke on it and aspirate, so he has to be extremely careful when it comes to eating as well.

He has to have someone to drive him back and forth. He's not able to drive himself.

Tommy shared his story with me and asked me to help him set up this GoFundMe. I copied and pasted his story below. If you are able to assist in any way, that would be a blessing for him. All funds will go directly to Tommy. If you're unable to help financially, maybe take him to an appointment, and if you can't do either of those, a phone call is always a blessing. He's unable to get out of the house unless it's to an appointment. That can be extremely lonely!

Hello, my name is Tommy Gurganus. I got really sick in May 2025. I went to an emergency room. They couldn’t find out what was going on. I came home, then I got really sick again. Went back to an emergency room. They airlifted me to Greenville. They told me when they were putting me on the helicopter that I’d probably be put on life support. When I got to Greenville, thank God I did not need it. I was in ICU for a week. I am home now, but have a long way to go to recovery. They diagnosed me with Myasthenia Gravis disease, and it affected all the muscles in my face. I have never asked for help, but I need a little bit of help now. I have helped a lot of people in my lifetime, and now I am asking for help. I haven’t worked and can’t work. I need help for my expenses. Thank you in advance for your help and God bless.
