Our hearts go out to the affected families who lost their belongings and loved ones during the recent tragedy of Hurricane Melissa in Jamaica.
Hello Everyone,
My name is Deneisha Reid granddaughter to Gilda and Carlton Alexander, and the purpose of this gofundme is to raise funds for my grandparents and their community whose home was completely destroyed by the category 5 hurricane Melissa this week.Their house is located in the rural area of St. Elizabeth on a hill .
During the storm their house lost its entire roof ,the windows were shattered , the walls have been water damaged and the house has been completely flooded. A large tree fell on their vehicles and the pathway to get down the hill is blocked by fallen trees and plants making it hard for them to reach the property safely or go out and seek help. We haven’t been able to communicate with them consistently because there is no poor or signal in that area.
My grandparents make a living off of agriculture and sadly because of the storm ,their livestocks and crops have been destroyed. Like many families in their community, they have lost everything.
Right now , my grandparents and their neighbors need help to:
•Clear blocked roads and debris around their property
•repair their home (roof, walls and structure)
•Buy food and water and other basic necessities
•Replace damaged furniture etc.
We’re hoping to raise $10,000 , which will go directly to materials, local workers, cleanup and emergency supplies.
Every donation makes a difference and if you’re unable to donate, please share this link and spread the word.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness , prayers and support during this difficult period.
