Mobile Classroom

My name is Lenira DosReis and I am a visual arts teacher in inner city Boston. I am passionate about sharing my love of art with my students and teaching the foundations of art for which my young students can build upon. I recognize the uniqueness of each student and am committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment for students to explore and develop their artistic gifts. I believe that fostering creativity and artistic expression is essential for all students' personal growth.

My students come from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds including African American, Hispanic, Haitian and Asian. My students range in age from 3-10 years old, with varying learning styles and academic needs. My students are curious to learn more about art and are excited to make their art projects.

Over the last 14 years as a visual arts teacher, I have been fortunate to have a designated Art room for teaching my students. This year, due to the limited space in our school building, there is not a designated room for art class. This limits my students’ access to the types of projects they can create. I have been making due with a cart that was given to me; however, the cart is difficult to push and is not ideal for storing and organizing all of the necessary supplies I need to conduct my lessons efficiantly.

I’m hoping that a new, state of the art cart will further develop my students’ excitement, curiosity and appreciation for art while helping my students to see that art is a valued subject worth investing in!
