We know life is hard for so many of us right now, and we also know some have it worse than us, but we could sure use some help.
Last month, David was sick for a week and unable to drive for his Uber job. We had the windshield on both cars crack and replaced. We accepted funds from our church to pay rent. Then, on Christmas Eve Eve (24 December), David had a collision while driving for Uber in Beaumont. We have yet to get any response from Uber/Progressive about the claim or even an estimate as to when our car will be repaired. Because of the collision, David has been unable to drive for the last 4 days, making it difficult to pay rent again this month.
Tuesday 2 January, I have to go back to work at my job in Stafford, and we only have the one car. This means David will have to not Uber during morning rush hour, but instead take me to work. Then the same thing for the evening rush hour when he will have to come pick me up. This will be for an indefinite amount of time until the car in Beaumont can have the claim settled and be fixed. We have maxed out all our credit cards, and we can't afford rent, or to rent a car, or even to pay any deductible that may be needed to fix the car.
The only good news in this is that the problem is somewhat short term. I start a new position at my job on 16 January which is much closer to home, although I will still need to be transported to and from work daily. My new position pays quite a bit more, and making rent for the future will be much easier. We can maybe start paying down some of our credit cards so future expenses will be less strain on the budget. But for now, we really need help. Please consider helping us through this crisis.
