Sandy's Memorial Fund (Alex)

This is Sandy Gomez/Cobian
(Alex Chitwood).
Beloved daughter, sister, sister-in-law,  auntie, niece, cousin, friend, wife, stepmother, G-Ma, coworker and School Counselor.

Sandy passed away suddenly
from Covid 19 on November 5, 2020.

Her passing has left her family, friends and students devastated. She was kind, loving, selfless and had empathy. Always ready to help wherever she was needed.

She had a smile that would brighten any room, any place any where.

In her honor and to keep her legacy alive, I, as her mother (Sandra Cobian) together with a small team of family and friends want to continue her work, helping students fulfill their dreams and education.

Sandy dedicated most of her life to helping kids, young people and students to achiecve their dreams in education, become productive in their homes and community.

Sandy began her education at St.Peter School in Reading, Pa.  At a very early age she began teaching religious Instruction classes to  children from public schools. Her desire to  help others in the community was always  very important to her. After eighth grade she attended Holy Name High School, PA,  but, could not continue there due to lack of financial resources. So she went to Wilson High School, West Lawn, PA until graduation. Eventually  she attended and graduated from Alvernia College. PA with great financial difficulties. She took a break to save some money and received her Masters Degree (Cum Laude) from Westchester University.
As parents, my husband and I mortgaged our home so that she could realize her dream education. She worked diligently at The Children's Home of Reading for many years, Caron Foundation, COCA  (Council on Chemical Abuse) and other short term positions and eventually with Manheim Township School District, Lancaster, PA,  at the Middle and High School level for almost 20 years.

She was an Ambassador to People, Student Ambassador Program , traveling for many  years with students who wanted to explore. learn and gain knowledge about other
cultures.

We appreciate your donations and no donation is too small to continue Sandy's Work.

All funds raised will be used only for the creation, funding, and support of this Foundation.
