Dear Friends, Family, and Supporters of Education:
Hello! The school name we are raising money for is Susan B. Anthony Elementary and they are located in Sacramento, California. They are a VERY low income, 100% Title 1 School in South Sacramento. The students not only receive FREE lunch, but they also receive FREE breakfast and a FREE after school snack. The student population consists of 53% English Language Learners. They have Hmong Immersion and Regular Education classrooms.
Many 6th graders go on a very special, overnight 6th grade field trip. If you live in Sacramento, this might mean an overnight trip to Sly Park or Coloma. Our 6th grade students have NEVER been on an overnight 6th grade field trip. The 6th grade field trip is to Cal Expo Raging Waters because that is all the school and families can afford.
This year, teachers and parents want to give the 6th graders an experience that they will never forget. They are signed up for a field trip to the Coloma Outdoor Discovery School at the end of this school year (May 15-17, 2017). At this school, students will integrate learning and team-building in an outdoor setting. They will also experience hiking and something as simple as gazing up at the stars without the interference of city lights.
Most of the 6th graders have never been camping or hiking. For those of you who have been camping on your own or with your children, you know what an amazing experience it can be. Providing a child with an opportunity like this can be a positive influence for a successful future!
The cost of the trip is $8,700. This includes the price for each student, the chaperones, and the bus. The families at this school just do not have money at the end of the month for extras. The priority for many of the parents is to provide housing, food, and clothing for their child or children.
It is already March, and the school is short $4,700. They have until the first of May to raise the amount needed to send all our 6th graders to Coloma. If they do not raise the amount needed, the students do not get to experience this amazing opportunity.
That is why the parents of Susan B. Anthony and myself got together to set up this GoFundMe account. Any amount is appreciated. You can be the person that makes a difference in a child’s education and life! Let’s work together to let the Susan B. Anthony 6th graders know that people out there DO Care about their education! Let’s raise the amount needed to send ALL the 6th graders to Coloma!
