Hello everyone, my name is Adonis and this is my baby, Emma. A few months ago, I discovered a bump on Emma's right thigh. After a trip to our primary vet, I was referred to a specialist where more testing was done and right there, I had my entire world flipped. Out of everything it could've been, it had to be the worst. Emma is suffering from an Injection Site Sarcoma, which is a rare and aggressive form of cancer found in cats. After numerous tests and visits, our only option for Emma to have a stronger outlook in her years to come is for her to undergo an aggressive surgical procedure. On October 9th of this year, 14 days before her 11th birthday, she will have her right leg amputated as a means to lower her risk and hopefully eradicate the cancer. It's also more than likely she'll have radiation or chemotherapy after her procedure, to garner better results for her. Every dollar from this campaign will go towards funding her medical expenses.
As I slowly come to terms that this is the only way, my heart continues to break. I've had my baby since she was 2 months old. I never thought that something like this could ever happen to her. I always imagined she'd grow old to meet my kids one day, and eventually pass away in peace. It's not fair. It breaks me every single time I think about my baby and everything she has to endure. She's sweet, she's sassy, she brings comfort and love on my worst days, with laughs and joy on the bright ones. Since August, every day has taken a toll on us. From losing my car in an accident, being unable to find work in the job market leaving us on tighter budgets, to the fear of losing my Emma, it feels like everything is coming down on me. That's not to say I give up, though. I don't. All her tests have amounted to $5,000 and her surgery will be $4,300. Her post-op treatment will shoot the cost towards the $15,000 mark, maybe more depending on how much is needed. I've done what I can and continue to do more, given my situation. I've participated in markets and conventions to try and raise money on my own. I'll give everything so that my baby can live.
