Helping a friend in dire need

Hi, My name is Kathryn Wilson and I have started this Go Fund Me to help a friend in desperate need. He is a brilliant creative director, that has found himself in a terrible spot due to a combination of COVID and the tragic, chronic medical condition of his wife. Please consider helping - he is a kind and extremely talented soul that does not deserve the situation that fate has handed him.

Rich's Story:

In December 2018, my employer (a large Ad Agency) was downsizing and let me go. 2019 started with plenty of freelance work, much of it repeated and I was optimistic.

In early September 2019, everything changed.

My wife Andi suffered a cerebral insult that left my girl a shell of her former self. With no short-term memory, she lives in the moment but requires constant care. Time has no meaning. She also suffered severe peripheral neuropathy, leaving her mostly bedridden. As a result, I have become her full-time caregiver. As she can't be left alone, and with no friends or family to help me, I have been anchored to my home for the better part of three years. In addition, over this past year, I have been stricken by an old ailment; a sciatic exacerbation has left me unsteady and unable to do any vigorous work.

When the pandemic struck, the work just stopped, and I have had to rely on our retirement savings ever since. That money was never intended to support my high living costs at our present location. It was intended to augment my Social Security and retirement under more humble circumstances.

Everything is gone.

In addition to losing my career, my wife, my health insurance, my vitality and my retirement, I'm about to lose my home and any hope for a reasonable future.

My goal is to get out of this house, file for social security and medicare when I turn 65 (10 months from now) and move on to a very humble last chapter. I can't do that on my own, I can't even begin to process that.

There is a lot I have to do - including finding a new place to go, finding care for my wife, prepare for an estate sale. But I can't leave my wife alone, and if we end up losing our home, I don't know how I will do any of these things.

I don't know where to turn, so I'm asking for your help.
