This is a fundraiser to help raise money for our father, Jim Hartness. He is an electrical contractor who owns his own business. On April 15, 2015, he was working up in a ceiling on some lights and he received a shock that threw him 15+ feet to the ground where he landed on his head/face. He was unconscious at the scene and taken by ambulance to Stormont Vail Hospital. He was brought in as a level 2 trauma and after he was ascessed, he was admitted into the trauma ICU. He suffered many broken bones in his face, including both eye sockets, both sinuses, his nose, and forehead. He also had a major gash in the forhead that took over 20 stitches to repair. He suffered a brain bleed and severe head trauma. He also crushed his left wrist and had to have surgery to try to repair that 2 days later. He is now at the Kansas Rehabilitation Hospital. He is somewhat alert but is having a lot of issues remembering things and preforming basic tasks. He is recovering everyday but we are told by everyone that brain injuries are very slow to heal. We have been blessed to have many prayers sent up for him. Now that he is in the rehab hospital, reality has set in. Medical expenses are going to be astronomical. Their deductible alone is $9500. We would like to see if we can find some way to help out Jim and his family with these expenses as he is obviously not working nor do we know if he will ever be able to work again.
