Sayulita Father Hospitalized with COVID
Hi, I’m Francisco Godinez raising funds for my father, Jose Godinez who was hospitalized in critical condition due to COVID on Monday, July 26th. My entire family grew up in San Ignacio (the small town right outside Sayulita with a bunch of speed bumps) and work in tourism in Sayulita. Many of us in San Ignacio have recently gone through COVID (including myself, my brother, my dad, my nephew, my grandmother and my uncle), fortunately and unfortunately my dad is the only one to escalate to needing critical care.
The public hospitals are full due to recent outbreaks, leaving us with the only option of taking my father to a private hospital, Punta de Mita Hospital. They are charging us $70,000 pesos ($3,500 USD) every 32 hours he is hospitalized. I will be going to Guadalajara tomorrow to purchase an oxygen tank so we can set up a room at home to finish his recovery which is expected to be at least another month on oxygen. We are trying to move him out of the hospital as soon as possible without risking his recovery. We expect at least 5 full days in the hospital (300,500+ pesos) and oxygen tank (30,000 pesos) and understand there very well may be unforeseen costs of medication and ongoing care. Just our two known costs at this point total $16, 525 USD. We’re unaware of any help whatsoever that the Mexican government is offering to ease the financial burden of the pandemic on families like ours. My brothers and sisters are coming together to pay this expense out of pocket in this trying time economically and health wise for our family.
If there’s anyway you are able to help contribute to his hospital expenses, any dollar is more than we expect. Thank you.
