GoFundMe: “In June 2021, Saylor began choking on solid foods and failed her swallow study. Her parents have been pushing for answers ever since. Saylor has been in the care of a fabulous Peds GI Specialist in OKC who has trialed several things and ordered tests to help find where this struggle to swallow is coming from. Wednesday, Jan 9th, 2022, Saylor and Elizabeth(her Mama) traveled the 2.5 hours to OKC for another swallow study and an Upper GI. By the next morning, they had answers. Saylor’s Upper GI report showed an aberrent right subclavian artery(ARSA). This is further complicated by the fact that Saylor has Trisomy 21(Down syndrome) and has had an ostium secundum atrial septal defect since birth. Testing and imaging to look at the severity has been completed and she is preparing to meet with a cardiology team in St. Louis to look further into the testing results. While treatment hasn’t been set in stone, we still want to show her our support while we help lessen the load that Saylor’s family is facing in travel costs, childcare during appointments/hospitalizations for her big sister, Finlee, and the potential for a lengthy hospital stay following any surgical intervention that may take place.
