Saying Goodbye to The Best Boy, Shakes

Donation protected
As some of yall may know, Shakespeare is my beautiful 15 year old puppy.

While Shakes has been losing his mobility lately, I was optimistic that we had more time with him after a recent vet visit.

Shakes had the best New Years Eve with some of his closest family, but this morning he took an unexpected turn for the worse and we’ve had to make the most difficult decision of our lives and let our baby boy cross the rainbow bridge.

There is no one that wants Shakey to be here more than me, but I am at peace knowing we’ve done everything we can do: holistic, prescription and preventative.

His neurological spinal issues have made it difficult to carry him today so we needed to book an in-home vet visit. Lap of Love has the soonest availability.

Luckily that means we can say goodbye on his favorite part of his sofa. Unluckily, it will be very expensive, especially considering how far we live and that this is considered an emergency visit. ($950 including cremation)

If you’re able to donate, we will be using funds for the euthanasia, cremation, and for Michelle to be able to take time off work to grieve.

I was 19 and Shakes was 5 weeks when I adopted him from a shelter off of Riverside. He’s been my rock for 15 years, my best friend, my son, the only solid foundation I’ve ever had for this long. Now, he’s an old man and I’m a whole other gender. I’m grateful that there is no one in this world who will ever witness my growth as much as him.

ily shakey boy.
