Yesterday I received some bad news, My dad (Lisandro Rijos) has passed at age 48. Lisandro(Lee) was many things, on his short time on earth. He was a loving father & grandfather, a hero to many, a brother, and a friend. At a young age he became a father, to his only child, Michael.
Along while working as a paramedic in the city of New York. He has worked at New York downtown hospital , Cabrini, and Saint Vincents Catholic medical center, also while being a medical instructor. During his career, as a paramedic he was a first responder for 9/11, saving anybody without second thoughts, putting others lives in front of his. Unfortunately this tragic experience was extremely hard on him and he was not the same person after it. Not only was his physical health degraded, but mentally and emotionally.
As time went by he had developed certain demons that at times took the best of him, his family/friends has done everything they could to help him recover and assist him in anyway needed. Unfortunately the love and attention was not enough, and he succumbed to his problems and past away yesterday. He will be remembered not for his problems but for his attributes and his duty performed in society and for his brave heroism during 9/11. He will be truly missed and words cannot explain how hard this is for us, we love you Dad/Lee/Lisandro. May you rest in peace.
Unfortunately tragedies come in unexpected times, and we ask that you help in anyway that you can to help cover for his funeral expenses. We appreciate any help that you can offer, and any prayers. Memorial services will be released in the next few days. Thank you.
