Help Jason DeAlba

Hello Everyone,

This is Kathleen (Jason's mom); I have not seen Jason going on the start of the 3rd year.  I have had 2 “Missing Person's Police Reports” on Jason since March 2013, and listed as a “Missing Endangered Adult”.  I did not know if he was alive or not, I also had him listed in “NamUs”.

With hard work, and God's help and with the assistance of many of God's angels living right here on this earth I located Jason. One of my many angels was when I sent by email, his homeless MPF (Missing Person Flyer) to a Homeless Center in San Diego; a wonderful counselor assisted me (FYI they are closing this shelter at the end of June).  I was actually helped by 3 separate homeless people who saw the flyer and called me to give me Jason’s location; one of them was Tiffany, who is pregnant and homeless along with her husband, and a younger child, Tiffany sent me the photos of Jason. Two other homeless men gave me additional information on different days. I found out that Jason has been living homeless on the streets of San Diego; he has not been going to any shelters to sleep, but has been sleeping on the street.

I purchased a plane ticket and was coming out here to San Diego on April 8th to look for Jason on that corner where he has been sleeping. I had my alarm set for 5 AM.

The morning of April 8th at 1 AM my doorbell rang.  It was a Will County Sheriff (Illinois), he  informed me that the San Diego Police had transported Jason to a hospital for an evaluation. (This was a definite “God moment”) OMG my flight was that same morning.

When I landed that afternoon I was able to find out more about Jason.  Unfortunately he is very mentally lost, and is not doing very well. I still have not been able to see him. Even though I traveled 2,000 miles, I am his mother, and I have not seen him in going on 3 years.  This is due to HIPPA laws and he did not sign the ROI (Release of Information).  I am working with the hospital providing them with information on Jason’s history, since he is not able to provide this for himself at this time. I am so very glad that I am here right at the same time that he was admitted, and hopefully getting better.

My original intentions were to come out here for a week, and if possible bring Jason back home with me on the return flight, but how things have changed. With Jason being so sick, I moved my return flight out from the 15th (Spirit airlines policy would not let me postpone a flight without a date).  Unfortunately my next date is April 22, Wednesday.  Now I find out that the hosital will have the end of the 14 day hold on Tuesday which is April 21.  The hospital can do a multiple of choices on Tuesday, and one of them would be to release him back out onto the streets again.  I have seen many very ill lost homeless people being released out the front door of the hospital, and I do not want that to happen to Jason.  If that were to happen I might lose him again, and may not be able to have this opportunity to find him again in the future. I need to give the airlines 24 hours in advance.  I am stuck!  Spirit only lets you move a date out one time, and I will need to move it out again in order to be here if they were to release him. What this means is that I will need to purchase another plane ticket to get back home again. And if by God’s grace, possibly be able to also purchase a ticket for Jason too.

The hotel is an expensive cost, which I have to deal with.  I have looked into staying at less expensive places (which there are not very in this area) they are booked up for months.

The car rental is a necessity unfortunately.

I have only been buying food from a grocery stores (salads, yogurt, veggies, avocado’s etc) and eating here in the motel, thank goodness I have a refrigerator.

I have been living on Social Security income only.  My pocket book unfortunately has now been stretched.

I came out here with my income tax refund check money.  I have gone through that money and now I am exceeding that amount. I consider myself an independent woman, and I have never been one to ask for money.  This pains me to make this website at this time.
