hi, i am epli. the photographer behind home//made .

i created home//made because we learn through the images we see. in this screen-saturated world, the images we are exposed to have power.
this project is created for all the people who see their own stories (past present future) reflected in the home//made participants.
this project is also created for all the people outside of our community to see us, to listen and to share in our radical humanity.

home//made is three years old. it has been developed against a backdrop of rising fascism, far- right narratives that vilify queer and trans people, and new state laws that abnegate our rights. with each year, this project grows in significance as an opportune to center our community’s stories of thriving and surviving.

so far, i have traveled across the country three times. i have already worked with 40 home//made families throughout 9 states and have a growing list of well over 100 others who are interested in sharing their stories. home//made has self-published a hardcover book, and has been featured in textbooks, websites as well as a perinatal waiting room in worcester, massachusetts. home//made is also honored to be a part of a french feminist documentary due to be released this summer.
we had our first show in durham north carolina in fall of 2022, where over 200+ people attended getting to read the words and see images of home//made families.

my work as a photographer and editor for home//made has been unpaid. and to seed and nourish the project i’ve had to cover many expenses - from travel costs, to website maintenance, to outreach to printing costs and beyond.
even before it had a name, i understood this body of work to be significant enough to invest in. i was too stubborn to wait for funding that might never come, and i hadn't created anything to show anyone there was something worth funding.
now i have.
and as home//made continues to grow, i need your help.

in two weeks i will get on the road driving from vermont to florida on home//made's "say more than gay" photo tour. i will work with families in philadelphia, baltimore, dc, richmond and charlotte en route to florida, where i will work with several families across the northern half of the state.

queer and trans floridians are on the frontlines of some of our country's most heinous legislation . i am honored and humbled to go meet with these folks, hear their stories and share them with all of you.

your support today of home//made will both cover my lodging and gas to travel down the coast and back again as well as the print costs to create a traveling exhibition of home//mades work! these prints will be used for countless shows. beginning with onein lakeland florida in march, followed by a spring gallery show in western mass and then a summer exhibition as part of brattleboro, vermont’s first pride.

please consider being a part of supporting home//made into its next chapter.
i have made so much happen without funding, but i cannot sustain that any longer. the money we raise will help take home//made to the next level.

thank you for being a part of this.
