Hello, I am Sara, the granddaughter of Say Ly, my grandpa was diagnosed with prostate cancer back in 2016. He has been fighting hard and manage to keep a smile on his face. On Friday, August 25, 2023 at 2:10pm our grandpa lost his battle to cancer.

Grandpa was born in Cambodia in 1940, he was a military medic in Cambodia before the Khmer Rouge(1975-1979). My grandparents, with their children, Saven, Sim and Vean, fled to Thailand to seek refuge, where they were able to immigrant into the States. They settled in Long Beach, California with their family, and was able to obtain his US Citizenship back in 2001. Over the many years from the late 80’s until now, our grandfather has been the financial support for not just his family, but other Cambodian Americans, like him. Helping dozens like his own children; with food, shelter and educational support. He was selfless, humble and the strongest person I know. With his own American dream of creating a better future for his grandchildren and great grandchildren, we are now his living legacies.

We hope to give him a proper burial and lay him to rest, hoping to raise enough funds to relieve the financial burden on his son and wife; my uncle and grandmother. Your support at this time will be greatly appreciated. Every contribution, no matter the amount, will make a difference.
