Saying goodbye to Evey
Donation protected
Hi everyone. It's Eleni.
After nearly 17 years of a long and beautiful friendship with my kitty, Evey, it is time for her to cross the rainbow bridge. I'm so grateful to have known her since she was a 7-8 week old kitten when I found her and her siblings in Socorro, NM during college. From New Mexico, to Florida, to Arizona, and finally Colorado, we have been best buddies through most of my entire adult life.
At age 15, she was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease, an incurable but very common cat illness. Although her lifestyle had to change, from diet to medication to subcutaneous injections, she's been a spunky, sweet and sometimes feisty little fighter. Evey's always been my little shadow - following me around and demanding love and affection. Perhaps she got that trait from me. I don't know where I'd be in life right now if it weren't for her companionship and warm nightly snuggles.
In the past few weeks, her physical wellness and mental faculties have greatly declined. After receiving the results of her blood work, it's clear that she is in the end-stage of renal failure. I have to come to the difficult acceptance that she needs to pass on.
I feel it would be best for her to leave the world from the comfort of her own home without the stress of another visit to the vet in her final moments. This allows me to be by her side like she's always been for me through my toughest times.
I have chosen to use the services of Lap of Love Denver who come to the home to provide pre-sedation for a peaceful passing and then a gentle euthanasia. They also include a pawprint impression keepsake, a lock of fur in a memorial pouch, Lap of Love's eternal pawprints booklet, and pet loss support. I will also be using their cremation services so her remains can be spread in a special place.
Unfortunately the unexpected need for these services is quite cost-prohibitive. I, myself, still have numerous medical payments from my previous breast cancer diagnosis and have been trying to catch up. This service would mean a lot to me and Evey so any help that I can receive from friends and family would be greatly appreciated.
Love,
Eleni and Evey-kins
