Seizure Dog for Sawyer
Donation protected
After spending lots of time researching various service dog organizations, I finally found one that would meet Sawyer’s needs. The agency is Dulebohn Service Dogs located in Ohio. The dog will have the ability to alert us prior to when Sawyer has a seizure, as well as provide emotional support for him when he has appointments or has to go to the hospital. The dog will also be able to assist with Sawyer’s eloping. Being able to get a seizure alert service dog will definitely be an adjustment to our daily routine, but with Sawyer’s increased seizures a dog like this will give us some peace of mind. We will be able to make sure Sawyer is in a safe place when he has a seizure. If you’re willing and able to financially assist Sawyer in getting this specially trained dog, we would be so grateful; however, if prayer is all you can do, we will absolutely take that as well. There is power in prayer.
For those of you who don’t know Sawyer or his story, he is an 8 year old who has Mowat Wilson Syndrome. Due to this syndrome, he has developed epilepsy, which has gotten increasingly worse over the last few years. He has been hospitalized several times to get his seizures under control. Even through all of his struggles Sawyer is such a joy to be around—he is so full of life and love. It’s hard not to smile when he’s in the room. He has a way of brightening up even your cloudiest day. It is a privilege and honor to be his parent. We have learned so much because of him.
