Dear friends,
I’m reaching out to all who are willing to help raise money for a beloved Southward Ho family, the Sawickis.
As some of you may know, Kristin Sawicki’s 2-year old daughter (and Gerry’s cherished granddaughter) Alexandra “Allie”, was recently diagnosed with Angelman Syndrome. Angelman Syndrome is a rare neuro-genetic disorder characterized by debilitating seizures, intellectual impairment, speech impairment and lack of balance and mobility.
For those of you who have had the pleasure of meeting Allie, you know she can light up a room with her infectious smile. I’ve also heard she has some great dance moves when Grandpa Gerry plays the Travelin’ Wilburys!
In June, Kristin had to resign from her position as Director of Catering and Banquet Sales at Southward Ho to care for Allie and juggle numerous doctor appointments while also caring for the newest addition to their family, beautiful baby Amelia, born in February. Kristin’s husband, Gerry, Jr, works for a small company, so they have relied heavily on Kristin’s health insurance through Southward Ho. They are now navigating through the difficult process of other health insurance options.
Although Allie is unable to walk, her physicians are very hopeful that with rigorous physical and occupational therapy she will eventually achieve some mobility. To ease some of their financial burden so they can focus on getting sweet Allie all of the early intervention therapy possible, my family and I would like to help raise funds for the Sawicki family.
As I’m sure with most of you, Big Gerry and Kristin have been a mainstay in many of our family celebratory events at Southward Ho - they have missed numerous Holidays with their family to spend it making ours exceptional. This is our way to pay it forward.
