My name is Susan Lindauer. I'm racing to save my house from illegal foreclosure, fighting a dirty mortgage company. To block any further action, I was forced to file bankruptcy, which consolidates all my debts. That's good!
HOWEVER in order to begin making payments required for the bankruptcy, I've got to QUICKLY RENOVATE the top floor of my house into a separate apartment. That will solve my problems. I will be self sufficient again. BUT I have no cash and no family to help me pay for the renovations.
I need $11,500 to pay for the following: dry wall, a broken window replacement, new floors (very expensive, alas); new kitchen cabinets, a stove and plumbing hook up for a kitchen sink.
It adds up fast. But the rental income will pay for my bankruptcy!
What the mortgage company's doing now is straight up thievery. The mortgage company refused to apply 4 on-time payments submitted in the month each was due. Amazingly they deny the existence of the payments, regardless of bank statements and 2 letters of verification from my bank. In court, attorneys argue the mortgage company has no obligation to "duty of care" to maintain accurate accounting records.
Over a dozen Judges have examined my payment proofs. They're horrified. But the State of Maryland bars homeowners from filing countersuits for mortgage fraud.
Many of you know that I'm a whistleblower. I'm incredibly proud that I spoke up about Iraq and 9/11, But speaking truth to power carries a cost. Renting a basement apartment in my house has helped me survive all these years, and I know I'm making the right decision to secure my financial independence. I just need help to make these renovations, or else I will be liquidated in the bankruptcy! And then what? Yikes!
