Hi. My name is Margot. I am a single mom of a beautiful 5 year old boy and some four-legged furry babies... two lovely dogs and four crazy cats. Between my full-time job and taking care of all these kids (yes, my animals are my kids), life can be a little hectic and challenging at times, but I wouldn't change it for the world.
On Friday, June 10th, I was being treated to a dinner by one of my best friends, when I received a text message... somehow, my German Sheppard Sage, managed to shimmy open my second floor window, lost her footing and fell down to the driveway. I left as soon as I could and rushed to the animal hospital where Sage was being treated.
Sage tore all the muscles in her left ankle (not sure what the term for a dog ankle is). Because she is 7 years old, she requires surgery. Between the services she received Friday night, the surgery to fuse her muscles back together and the post-op care, this will cost around $5,000. And, because I was not home when this happened, New Bedford Animal Control is involved. Although the officer was very kind and helpful, Sage is required to have this surgery or be surrendered. Because of her age and the expense of her surgery, surrendering her in the City of New Bedford will end with her being euthanized.
Sage is the sweetest, nicest, pup. I was there the day she was born and she has been in my care since she was 8 weeks old. She has lived her whole life with my other dog Shelby (a lab mix) and they cannot do anything without each other, she snuggles with all of my kitties and most importantly, she is amazing with my son. My love for her pales in comparison to the love my son has for this precious girl.
I am asking for help because I have never been so financially unstable in my life. I hate more than anything having to reach out and basically beg for help, but my pride means nothing when it comes to saving the life of my beautiful Sagey-Girl.
Sage deserves to live. She is simply an amazing girl. Words cannot describe what help would mean to me and my son... So thank you for taking the time to read this sad story and possibly considering helping my little family.
