Help My Mother In-Law Ana Get her Knee Surgery
Donation protected
My campaign is about trying to raise funds from friends and family, and even caring strangers for my mother-in-law’s right knee replacement surgery, so she can live a full, enjoyable, and rewarding life with the years she has left.
I have decided to take a leap of faith and try to help her get her right knee replaced. We do not know how we will pay for this surgery without asking for help. My grammy-in-law (Ana’s mother) applied for a loan but got turned down. Ana has put off this surgery before because of the medical cost but per what her doctors say, she cannot put it off any longer. We’re hoping to be able to do the surgery this year – the sooner the better. In the meantime, she will be getting PRP treatments to help her deal with the pain.
If you know Ana, you know she is the type of person to give her last dollar even if she needed it. She always puts herself last and other first. She’s the first to always help with no hesitation. I hope we can put Ana first and help her get the one thing she needs to lead a full and happy life. We Love Ana and we really need to help her, we can't stand to see her in so much pain anymore.
She has a full-time job but since it’s a freelance position, she doesn’t have health insurance. She is paying for the Caja insurance there in Costa Rica (Government insurance) but as of mid-April they have stopped doing all non-emergency surgeries due to the rise in covid cases there. She’s been told that the waiting list for this type of surgery is a minimum of 3 yrs if not longer. The orthopedic surgeons she has spoken with say that she will be in a wheelchair within a year without a knee replacement. (When she was 37 she was told she’d be in a wheelchair before her 60s).
After surgery she will be in physical therapy for several months so she can recover completely. Luckily, she works from home so she will only miss a few days of work due to the surgery. Her doctors and surgeons have been telling her that she really needs to have this surgery done as soon as possible to avoid needing to have surgery in both knees as well (from overuse of the good knee).
This knee replacement surgery goes back to when she was 37, when Dr. Feder in California first told her she needed a knee replacement but at the time she was too young and the technology not great – that being the case you can imagine the deterioration of her knee over the last 23 years now that she’s 60.
So, if you could find it within your heart to donate towards her medical cost, we would be beyond grateful for any help received. We are praying for a miracle.
Thank you for caring and for your love and support and heartfelt compassion.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your contribution, be it a simple prayer or donation. God Bless!! Thank you!!
If you would like to donate directly you can contact Ana or myself.
