I am fundraising for my sweet boy Onyx, who urgently needs a front left leg amputation due to a soft tissue sarcoma. On September 9th, at Myrtle Ave Vet, Onyx had surgery to remove a growth that had rapidly increased in size over eight months. Although the tumor was removed with clean margins, it had already caused bone damage and was confirmed to be a soft tissue sarcoma after further testing. Unfortunately, in just a couple of months, the growth has almost fully returned and is now affecting Onyx’s ability to bear weight on his leg. We are currently managing his pain, but his scheduled amputation on December 16th is our best hope for giving him a pain-free, happy life. However, keeping this appointment depends entirely on my ability to raise significant funds to offset the personal cost.
At the same time, I am caring for my other dog, Jasper, who was recently diagnosed with lymphoma. Jasper has started at-home chemotherapy and recently required hospitalization to determine his prognosis. Emotionally, I am prepared to do anything I can to provide the care my dogs need to live happy, quality lives, but finances are the only thing standing in the way of helping Onyx. This fundraiser is my last hope to avoid having to consider euthanasia for him.
Onyx is a 10.5-year-old Lab/Pit mix, originally born in Lake County, where I picked him from his litter at just one week old. He has been my best friend, protector, and emotional support for all these years, and I have tried every avenue to save him. I have joined support groups and seen countless stories of dogs who thrive after amputation, and that is all I want for my baby. Donations will help cover Onyx’s surgery, aftercare supplies, and medications. If I can reach the initial target by December 10th, I can keep his surgery appointment, and my ultimate goal is to cover all costs while I continue to care for Jasper. Please help donate if you can—your support means the world to us.
If we are unable to cover atleast half of the cost of the surgery through donated funds then all donations will be used towards Jasper's ongoing cancer treatments (steroids and chemo) and Onyx's end of life care (pain management, euthanasia, and cremation).
