Gizmo's Rescue and Recovery

Hi friends--as many of you know, we recently rescued Gizmo from a terrible situation where he was being abused and neglected (we are reporting this to animal cruelty). It was apparent he had a major injury to his right leg and hip. We paid for his medical bills to get him up to date with shots and tested for heartworms (negative!) but the x-rays came back showing major trauma to his hip which is requiring a full amputation of his back right leg and hip socket. The doctors are confident he'll make a complete recovery (as he has already adjusted to not using that leg), which is good news, and think he'll be a lot happier in the long term. 

We are hoping to raise enough money to fund the surgery to lessen the financial burden for whatever amazing person decides to be his forever home (we're still looking!). Currently, he is being fostered by one of the vet techs, who is an angel among humans, truly. Gizmo is living with two cats, another dog, and doing great! He truly is a sweet dog and to see his demeanor in the face of the horrible hand he has been dealt is truly inspiring, and heart wrenching.
