Saving Atlas
Thank you all so much! With everyone's care and generosity we have a HUGE head start on Atlas' medical bills. She has been home for two days now and has made an incredible amount of improvement! She is eating regularly, her temp has continued to stay normal and she has not had a bloody nose in 2 1/2 days! We are so thankful and there are no words that can describe the amount of gratitude that we have for everyone that helped us and Atlas through this tough time! She is on quite a few meds daily and will have follow up appointments with our regular vet now- North Memorial, PVSEC has done an incredible job helping us through this and we highly recommend them!
We have closed her Go Fund Me, between donations online and in the mail, we feel confident taking on these bills now with generous donations!
We have YOU ALL to thank for Saving Atlas!
About one week ago we were thrilled to bring sweet Atlas into our lives, we adopted her knowing that she had a severe break in her rear L leg, that may require amputation. To our surprise when we took her in for her big surgery day, the Vet decided we should try to save it! So we were elated, we know her leg will never be completely normal but we're doing our best to make sure she never knows the difference. She began her healing process at home and we thought the hardest part was over.
Unexpectedly Atlas began to decline in health, she made an emergency trip to her vet on Monday afternoon, after throughly checking her over, examining and re-wrapping her splinted leg, giving her an antibiotic injection she was given the go ahead to return home and stay on bed rest until her next follow-up on Saturday.
This afternoon we were once again met with devestation, Atlas suddenly began bleeding from the nostrils and vomitting. We rushed her to her Vet where we were transferred to PVSEC- Pittsburgh Veterinary Specialty & Emergency Clinic. As soon as we walked through the door Atlas was rushed off to the back and we sat in dispare as we awaited the news of her fate.
After consulting with the Vet tending to her we still were not met with any answers. They have already run multiple tests that have given us no conclusion and the bill just keeps growing. At this point we still do not know what is going on, we have no answers but multiple tests that still need to be done to find out the cause of Atlas' health issues. We assume she was dumped by an Amish breeder- given the broken leg she was not profitable, when sharing this information with the Vet she immediately ordered a head CT & Rhinoscopy- which Atlas will have done tomorrow morning.
Please if you could find it in your heart to give any amount we would apprciate your generosity.

** Sweet Atlas is home! Thank you all so much for your kind words, healing thoughts and generosity towards Saving Atlas. You have helped us more than you'll ever know- we still have financials to figure out and Atlas still has a road of recovery, a ton of meds, follow up appointments and the hopes she does not relapse. We are not out of the woods yet, but we have a huge head start on her medical bills and now we know we have another *very* special needs pup!
We still do not have answers for this terrible spell of illness, which is very unsettling. But we have PVSEC and North Memorial on call if we need them. Atlas is a very special pup to us, after losing our senior dog in March- ourselves and our blind dog Augor have had a huge hole in our hearts and home. We knew one day the right dog would come along, turns out this special pup was the one for us.
All of you made this tough time in our life and hers a manageable transition, emotionally and financially. We are eternally grateful for everyone's kind words, healing thoughts and generosity.
We all love you so much, Atlas.**
