Saving Winston : Our Epilepsy Support Companion

Sweet Winston, a 9-year-old golden doodle, and seizure-alert dog to Gracie needs your help!
In a routine preventive care exam, Winston had elevated liver enzymes, from which his doctors recommended an abdominal ultrasound. The ultrasound was performed on 3/14, just one day after his 9th birthday, and showed some concerned results within his intestines. Due to the extreme risk of perforation, which would be fatal, urgent surgery was recommended to resect part of his bowel, and send that, plus a liver biopsy out for analysis. On the evening of the 14th, Chandra and Mike elected to get his surgery taken care of ASAP. The surgery went well, however, 70% of his intestines looked unhealthy, and the section that was removed was necrotic. All samples were sent to the lab and are awaiting results.
As you can imagine, this sort of case is very costly, but as Winston has saved Gracie’s life and well-being for the last 8.5 years, as well as being a faithful companion to the Gibsons, we owe it to him 10x over to try to give him the best retirement years from his time as a service dog.
Winston still has a few days left in the hospital for observation to make sure he’s healing properly, given the damage to his intestines the next 5-7 days are critical in his recovery.
Any little bit helps and we thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.
