Saving up for The Schubers!

Hi everyone! I’m Natalie and wanted to share some news about my friend/co-worker’s husband…

On November 5th, Nick was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer that had metastasized to the liver. As we know with cancer, Nick will be in for a long battle that will come with a financial burden as he will be taking time away from his career within Smith Senior Living to focus on his health.

Nick is the father of 2 wonderful boys and husband to his wife Sheena. Lovingly, Sheena has taken the role as Nick’s caregiver during this time. Their family and friends want to help the Schuber family in every way possible, and we are hoping to raise money to alleviate some of the current and upcoming financial burdens that come with fighting this disease. Nick has had 7 sessions of chemo already. They are currently waiting for surgery depending on the result of an upcoming scan, then 5 more chemo sessions. UPDATE:

Nick has 3 chemo sessions left for now then another scan. They will find out after the scan if he will need more chemo before surgery. The bigger spots are shrinking. Good news! But, there are still a lot of small ones on the liver.

ANOTHER UPDATE 11/17/23:

According to the last scan, Nick is not ready for surgery yet and needs more chemo. They switched him to oral chemo. The side effects of it seems to be stronger than the usual chemo infusion. He still has to go every other Tuesday for antibody infusion and a scan every 2 months. He can’t work due to neuropathy, severe nausea, and decreased energy.

UPDATE 11/21/23:

Not good news. Cancer is starting to grow and is showing resistance to chemo! They are changing the approach/medication again. Just waiting for insurance approval.
