Help Us Save the Williams Family Home
Hi, my name is Rose, and today I want to share an important story about my family and our beloved home. Our house, which holds generations of memories, is falling apart, and we need help to save it. Right now we don’t have any help other than the go fund me and where currently homeless. Here are the challenges we're facing:
- Severe water damage
- Broken flooring
- Infestation of critters
- Burst pipes
- A hole in the ceiling
- Unusable bathroom
- Faulty lighting
- No furniture
- A tree acting as a bridge for animals
- Unsanitary conditions
- A ruined basement
- Damage on the first floor
- A compromised roof
- The upstairs in shambles
- Critters destroying the insulation
- And more…
Repairing all of these issues will cost more than my family can afford. Let me tell you about us: My mom is a single parent who is disabled and unable to work. I’m a high schooler focused on my education and health, and my little brother is in middle school. Our only source of income is $3,000 a month from the government, which barely covers basic living expenses. We’ll be using the money to fix the house and if we really have to use it to move. But we’re going to try to fix it. Scratch that we will fix this.
**How Did It Come to This?**
It all began in the winter of 2024 in Rhode Island. The cold was brutal, and without heat, we had to rely on a single space heater while the rest of the house froze. When spring arrived, we discovered a burst pipe due to freezing temperatures, and the first flood occurred. Months later, we found a raccoon—whom we named Rocky—inside our home, likely entering through either a hole or a small door upstairs.
By January 2025, things got even tougher. I was hospitalized for diabetic shock, and my brother was diagnosed with diabetes too. Shortly after, my boyfriend broke up with me, and I faced depression while managing my health. Then came the second flood—a literal waterfall from the ceiling. We had to move in with my uncle temporarily, but my mom suffered a mini-stroke, and we eventually moved to a sobriety house where we’ve been living ever since. While my uncle has been incredibly supportive, we can’t stay with him long-term.
**Why This Home Matters**
Our house is more than just a building; it’s a part of our family’s legacy. My grandmother built it from scratch, raising my mom, aunts, and uncle there. I’ve had the privilege of growing up in the same place that shaped so many family stories. Selling it isn’t an option—it’s our family jewel, and we believe in preserving it for future generations.
**How You Can Help**
We’ve started a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for repairs and make our house livable again. We dream of restoring it to its former glory, keeping our family history alive, and ensuring a stable home for the future. Your support, whether through donations or spreading the word, means the world to us.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story. With your help, we believe we can save the Williams house.
