Saving 4 sweet elderly healing horses ❤️

Hi dear horse lovers, animal friends and all you kind people!!

We are a small group of women and kids trying to prevent wonderful old horses here in south Portugal from being put to sleep.

Sandakan, Kettle, Kushka and Tara. One male and 3 females. They are loved dearly by our kids and we want to do whatever we can to save them.

These 4 horses worked all their life as healing horses, with children. They are amazing.

They were given to a friend 2,5 years ago, by their previous owner.

She wanted them for her daughter and friends and innocently thought she could take care of them but she wasn’t aware about their age and didn’t realise the amount of work and money it required. She did her best as long as possible, but eventually wasn’t able to take care of them.

They moved to a farm close by then and became ‘everyone’s horses’ in some way, but didn’t get the care they needed.

They are now a bit sick and very skinny and urgently need proper food and a place to retire and to be loved.

So we are trying to buy a lot of hay and good food and medicine that will help them recover, but it is very expensive , the costs are high and ongoing, and we are financially not able to cover it. If they don’t get better soon they will have to be put asleep which would be horrible.

They are great horses,

calm and trustful, that love company and still can make many kids happy.

They love going on walks or even swims in the lake.

The money that will be raised will be used for food and medical expenses for the horses but if enough couldn’t be raised it will be given towards any charity that will agree to take them.
