My Story: Fighting to Save the Home My Husband and I Built Together
I never imagined I would be writing something like this. My life changed forever the day I lost my husband to cancer. He was my partner, my best friend, and the heartbeat of our home. When he became sick, I left my job so I could take care of him full-time. I would do it again a thousand times over — but the reality is, the financial impact has been devastating.
Since his passing, I’ve been trying to hold everything together on my own. But now, the home we built our life in — the place filled with our memories, our laughter, and even our pain — is at risk of foreclosure. This house is all I have left of the life we created. Losing it would mean losing the last piece of stability I’m clinging to.
I’m doing everything I can to get back on my feet. I’ve even started selling my husband’s artwork — pieces he poured his heart into, pieces that mean the world to me — just to try to catch up. But letting go of them breaks my heart. They’re the last things I have of him, and watching them leave one by one feels like losing him all over again.
I’m not asking for luxury. I’m not asking for anything more than the chance to save my home and get back to a place where I can breathe again. I just need help getting caught up so I can move forward without fear of losing everything.
If you’re able to support me in any way — even by sharing my story — it would mean more than words can express. This home is the last piece of the life my husband and I shared, and I’m fighting with everything I have to keep it.
Thank you for reading, and thank you for caring.
