Saving rivers, stirring action
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Divya Nautiyal. I am from a small village in the Himalayas. I grew up and still live on the banks of the river Ganga. The river Ganga supports over 650 million people.
Global warming has caused the glacial source of this river to recede rapidly. Additionally, 1200 million liters of untreated sewage are dumped into the river daily. I have written a children's book to raise awareness, but have not been able afford to publish it. There are some conservation projects ongoing, but with little effect.
I desire to study watershed management at Utah State University. I hope to evaluate the stark contrasts in river management in the US and India, develop ways to capture the passion of river enthusiasts and raise awareness about the threats to this important river. My primary goal is to motivate people to protect river ecosystems in ways that align with their values, talents, and capacities.
I have been accepted by Utah State University to study for my Master's degree in Watershed management. I am trying to raise funds for my travel, tuition, fees, and research costs. I will be the first generation college student in my family to pursue a higher degree.
And I am JoAnn. I have known Divya for over 4 years and it has been my pleasure to see her passion for environmental awareness and saving rivers grow. Please consider supporting this. By attending Utah State's unique watershed program, she would gain the knowledge and credentials she needs to create lasting change in her country.
We all have a voice, we just need to learn to use it - including you, when you partner with us to save the river Ganga.
