Saving the abandoned cats of Fire Island Pines
Donation protected
Dear Friends,
(Great news:) Most of you know that every weekend, I do cat rescue on Fire Island. We have spent five years spending money on food, medical expenses, and heated homes for the over 30 cats that (through no fault of their own) were born on Fire Island after horrible people left their personal pets there to die.
To give you a scope of what's going on in The Pines, in 2022 65 cats were taken off the island and were spayed and neutered. In 2023, 50 cats and over 20 kittens were taken off the island and spayed and neutered. In prior years, many people have been working to help and save these cats that have just been abandoned here.
There are approximately 4 other people in The Pines that have been helping take care of these cats over the harsh cold winter this year. We were really fortunate to receive the help of 3 great people, who live on Long Island (not in The Pines), that are willing to donate their time, energy, supplies and money to come and help us, here in The Pines. This is really great news for us and all the cats here in The Pines. These folks were able to recruit and schedule a mobile Veterinary Clinic/Van to come to The Pines and do a complete, trap, spay/neuter weekend.
But the task is not over and it will cost us aprox $6,000. With your help we can end this injustice and help these animals. This is a dream come true after everything we've worked for. This is a very worthy cause, and anything at all would be more than appreciated. Please be a part of making this happen... We will never forget it, and can't thank you enough ❤️
