My name is Kay, I am making a go fund me to help raise money for Tendring feral rescue.
TFR are a rescue based in Tendring, Essex. TFR are a dedicated rescue who specialise in caring for strays and ferals, ensuring they get the medical care they need — as well as rehoming former strays and ferals. With the number of street cats needing help increasing, the dedicated rescue are drowning in vet bills and need your help.
Who am I and why am I fundraising for TFR?
So, one day I was at work and approached by a malnourished, skinny and filthy cat. His fur was dull and some areas matted. I offered him some food and he ate a whole pouch of cat food in 3 bites. He was starving. The more I fed him the more apparent it appeared that he had some dental issues, and sounded quite snuffly.
I reached out to a few rescues who unfortunately were unable to help due to spacing issues and finances. When I contacted TFR, despite how busy and overwhelmed they were, they didn’t turn us away and agreed to arrange for him to be seen to at the vet. We booked Dennis in for a consultation, and he was hospitalised straight away for a dental procedure.
During his first hospitalisation admission:
- he had his some blood tests, revealing he had anemia assumed to be by the amount of fleas he had.
- He had PCR swab tests taken of his mouth due to the concerning ulceration of his gums and severe inflammation.
- He was tested for calicivirus
- He had his first dental, with Partial Mouth Extraction
- He was de-flead and wormed
- He was bathed & de-matted.
PCR results come back with:
Chronic Plasmacytic Glossitis on his tongue. Ulcerative Stomatitis inside his mouth.
Calicivirus positive.
Due to the results being calicivirus positive and stomatitis — it was decided to go ahead with a FME (full mouth extraction) with the rest of his teeth, to help reduce the stomatitis inflammation inside his mouth. So Dennis went in for a second dental procedure.
Dennis’ vet bills ALONE has totalled to £1,500. I have included proof of his two main invoices of his two dental procedures.
Aside from Dennis, TFR have saved and continue to save MANY cats. Even with cats who are not unwell and need spaying/neutering. As you can imagine, their vet bills are simply continuing to rise.
Dennis continues to be within my care and has now since a full recovery and major improvement with his health & wellbeing, thank you to TFR who have saved his life.
