Saving Sienna

On May 1st Sienna is scheduled for a full skull reconstruction surgery (CVR Cranio Vault Reconstruction). Sienna will undergo this very extensive surgery where the doctors will need to temporarily remove the skull bones (called a craniotomy,) reshape them, and replace them to form the skill in their new shape and arrangement.  The reshaped bones are secured using synthetic plates and dissolving screws and dissolving sutures.  This type of reconstruction will allow the surgeon to reshape her skull in one surgery.  

Her Story: 

Recently this month they were referred to a Neurosurgeon who finally gave them some answers.  Sienna was born with  Coronal Craniosynostosis, which means there was a premature fusion of the right coronal suture of her skull. So in order for her brain to have room to grow she needs surgery to expand her skull. Not having this surgery can lead to intracranial pressure and other problems that will affect her future.

So we started a gofundme account for their family to raise the money needed to cover the cost of the surgery (which will be 30% off the full cost after they meet deductible of $11,000) and care/check ups for Sienna after.

Sienna's diagnosis has come quickly and their surgery date is set for May 1st which was only a little over a week away.
