Saving Sean's Sight

Donation protected
On New Year’s Eve, just after midnight, our beloved brother, Sean, was attacked as he exited a friend’s apartment building in lower downtown Denver with his long-term girlfriend, Ana. The attack was unprovoked and random. Sean and Ana walked out of the building and were jumped by two men. Ana was left unhurt physically but was involved in the fight by trying to push them off, Sean. Sean’s New Year ended in the hospital where he underwent emergency surgery on his right eye. He suffered permanent eye damage with a chance he will never regain sight in his right eye. We pray the upcoming surgeries in the near future can save his vision.

After the initial CT scan, it appeared Sean had a ruptured orbital globe along with orbital socket fractures that will need to be reconstructed. He had the first, exploratory surgery the following morning of the incident. Where the surgeon said he did not find a rupture and sent us to a retina specialist where we were told he thought that Sean does indeed have a posterior rupture of the orbital globe. The doctor told us there is a small chance that Sean may recover his vision and he suggested more comprehensive care from the team at UCHealth of the University of Colorado.

Sean is 30 years young and an incredible brother, son, boyfriend, and friend to all. He is an avid outdoorsman with a passion for adventure and photography. Sean started his business in high-quality digital photography, videography, and brand development for outdoor companies; following his passions and encouraging others to do the same. Sean has the biggest heart that he actively uses to help his friends and loved ones. He is quick to empathize with everyone and is eager to spread love.

With numerous upcoming surgeries and an unknown prognosis, we are turning to our community to aid Sean's mounting medical financial needs. His traumatizing injuries will significantly impact his quality of life as well as his mental, physical and economic health. Sean has an insurance plan that only covered the care he received in the emergency room. All further surgeries – the repair of the retina, globe, and facial reconstruction will not be covered by his insurance.

We are asking for $25,000 to help with medical costs. We understand it is hard to give large amounts of money, but every dollar counts in aiding the healing of Sean's vision. It will not go unnoticed if you can find it in your hearts to donate. Please share Sean's story with your family, friends, and social media to help get Sean's vision back! Sean and his family will be eternally grateful! Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for your help in our brother's recovery.
