Hello! We are VANimal Rescue Society based in Vancouver, Canada. Our first rescue from the San Bernardino City Shelter was Andy #a574586 the black pitbull! While we've rescued many dogs over the last 7 years Andy caught our attention through a shared facebook post and now we know all about this dreaded place called the San Bernardino City Shelter.
Sasha Idema & Alanna Hadley recently teamed up over Andy and have been working with a few others who have all helped us pull from this shelter and transport up to Canada. As Canadians we don't have pull rights in the US or a 501c3 so we have been working with a local rescue to help us. We now have 10 saves from the San Bernardino City Animal Shelter (Andy #a574586, Chico #a576143, Paco #a574194, Void/Moses #A574547, Nola #a575295, Bronco #a574496, Soul #a575541, Vinnie #a573858, Nora #a575297 & Dutchess #A428093) with 4 already in Canada, 2 in quarantine and 4 waiting transport! All these saves are fully funded by mortgage broker Sasha Idema of VANimal Rescue Society.
All the dogs we have pulled receive a rabies vaccine as part of the requirements to enter Canada.
Should they have been exposed to parvo as 2 of our dogs have been or any other illness they are pulled and with full knowledge put into quarantine at a local San Bernardino boarding facility.
Once cleared dogs are then transported with a reputable transport company and picked up in Washington near Seattle where they continue their trip to Canada where we have vetted and approved fosters waiting for them. Each foster recieves a home inspection and goes through an application process just as anyone who wants to adopt any of our dogs.
Once in setteled into their foster home each dog is vetted and treated for any issues and after the dogs have some mental recovery time from this exhausting and stressful journey they will all be fixed, since we know that no dogs on death row coming from this place leave fixed! This is absolutely absurd.
Sasha is fully funding this mission saving all of the 10 dogs. We have had no financial support from anyone in San Bernardino and have fully funded these rescue missions ourselves.
We appreciate all the financial help we can get as this is a costly mission and our Canadian to US dollar right now is terrible. We'd like to continue saving as many dogs as we can!
This is just the beginning of our story.
Thank you,
Alanna Hadley
