Saving Petunia: A Brave Pug’s Cancer Battle

Donation protected
Petunia is a 4-year-old pug rescue who deserves a chance to have more years playing, napping in the sun, going on walks, and annoying her pitbull sister. Petunia developed a rapidly growing bump on her back paw that was diagnosed as mast cell cancer. Due to the tumor’s complex location, multiple vets referred us to oncology. The cancer has since spread to her lymph node.

The University of Illinois Vet Hospital has created a treatment plan: Petunia will start Palladia chemotherapy to slow tumor growth until surgery in March to remove the tumor and lymph node. Because clean margins aren’t possible, she will need eight rounds of IV chemotherapy afterward.

Estimated costs are $500 per month for medication and bloodwork, $3,500–$5,000 for surgery, and $2,500 for IV chemotherapy. Without treatment, the cancer will continue to aggressively spread.
