Hi, my name is DoNeisha, and I’m 24 years old. I never thought I’d be in this position, but right now, I’m raising my sister’s five children on my own.
Their mom, my sister, is currently incarcerated and was battling addiction. When she could no longer care for them, I stepped in because I couldn’t let them be separated or end up in foster care. These kids are my world now, and I’m doing everything I can to keep them safe, together, and loved.
The twins are just 3 years old, the little boy is 5, their sister is 6, and the oldest is 11.
But we’re in serious danger of losing our home. I recently lost my job, and now I’ve fallen behind on rent. If I can’t pay the past due balance before next Thursday, our belongings will be set out, and we’ll be homeless. I’ve applied for rental assistance, but the help hasn’t come in time.
I’m asking for help not just for me, but for these kids who have already been through so much. Anything you can give will go directly toward keeping a roof over our heads. And if you’re not in a place to donate, just sharing this means more than you know.
Thank you for reading, and for helping us hold on to hope.
With love and gratitude,
DoNeisha
