Hi everyone, my name is Selena.
We live on one side of a home in New Waterford, and the other side has sadly been abandoned for quite some time. The city has deemed that side unsafe and a fire hazard; there’s even an open attic that runs from one end straight through to our side, along with many other risks that come with an exposed, deteriorating structure.

The demolition of that side is set to happen November 19th 2025, and while it’s a huge relief for safety, it also means we’ll need to rebuild and finish the newly exposed wall of our home right away before winter hits.

**We have our permits in place, and have now had to hire proper contractors as city’s strong recommendation.
Ocean East Contracting LTD. Thank you for squeezing us in such last minute.
I will attach quote of labor.
2 Contractors to work along side of demo team. 1500-1800 per day.

When we pushed for this demolition (for almost two years now) we were told it would take place at a better time when my partner was also working (seasonal worker) and we could afford to repair our side. Unfortunately, there was a change of plans and demolition has now been scheduled for end of November. If we don’t move forward with it now, the abandoned home simply can’t sit that long without causing more damage to ours. And we are on a tight time frame with being so close to winter.

We applied for the housing repair grant, but unfortunately we didn’t qualify, Home insurance isn’t able to help, as the neighboring property wasn’t affected by fire. Contacted MLAS, building supply businesses, 211, etc. Credit is not an option. We’ve truly exhausted every other option available to us. We’re asking for help to cover the cost of supplies (around $5900) things like framing, insulation, tyvek, and siding.

I didn’t want to make this GoFundMe at all, if it wasn’t for my children I wouldn’t have been going to these lengths to make this our home for decades to come. Any help whether it’s a donation, a share, or even unused building materials would mean the world to us.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story and for any support you can give.
