My Grandmother’s Go Fund Me Story:
My late husband who was a military man brought the house at 131 Bickley Road in Glenside and spent many wonderful years in the neighborhood. He passed in May 2021. Prior to that, my grandson passed away in September of 2020. While dealing with the loss of grandson and husband, my oldest daughter passed away in August of 2021. I have tried to keep my home for my grandchildren and great grands that needed me. COVID also played havoc in my situation. During that time, I went through the loss mitigation process with my mortgage lender, Freedom Mortgage. I was granted 50,000 dollars from the Federal Homeowners Assistant Fund but lost getting that money due it to Freedom Mortgage untimely reply to the organization who provided the grant.
My Grandchildren helped me fill out paperwork and moved into the property assisting me financially. Freedom Mortgage Company through the Loss Mitigation Program keep requesting information repeatedly of which we complied. They continue to claim that they never received or lost information which then progressed my request. Several programs were set up and this last effort to save my home through a VA Program no doubt won’t help me without some help from the outside. On April 5, 2025, the ceiling in my living room and dining room collapsed leaving my house uninhabitable. Several decisions were made based on erroneous assumptions. First it was blamed on the roof which I have proof was not the cause. Then it was brought out that it was not from water damage. I know of three reasons the ceiling fell.
Two ceilings were there (an attempt to lower the original ceiling) with nails and glue. I have photos to prove this information from two reputable construction contractors plus an engineer who without knowing the full story assessed what another saw first-hand.
On July 21, 2024, a video of my family celebrating my birthday in the same living and dining room. The ceiling had no water damage. On December 25 -28 Christmas in the dining room with table set up.
A delivery truck turned the corner entering Bickley Road hitting a Utility Pole and the cables all hit the front of my house like an explosion. I have a neighborhood who was outside when that occurred and will testify to that fact. The front of my house a façade or siding was knocked loose. I had a contract come and repair that damage without filing any claim. But he can witness the fact that it caused damage on the outside of the living room window. I am getting a police report of that incident.
I am 76 years old in a couple of months; people want to buy my house as is but the dream which we had when we purchased that house was to help anyone who needed help. We have done that over the years turning only one family away.
Please help me fix it and keep my home. I have worked many years even now still working two different jobs to keep my home. I have not mentioned the sickness and deaths that created lack of income and heartache, but I believe that my situation is not the only hardship case. Bickley Road my side of the Road has had 5 other houses lose their ceilings. I appreciate anything and everything that will be donated in order to help me keep my home.
