Saving Nina:Supporting Taylor's Dog with Spleen Mass Surgery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Taylor and I am fundraising for my sweet dog, Nina. Nina is a 7 year old American Bully, who I rescued at the age of 2 years old. She was in an abusive home prior to us finding each other and from the moment we met, it was love at first sight. She fit right into my family of two, myself and my, at the time, 12 year old Bichon Frise, Pierre. She has always been gentle and loving, with the kindest eyes. Her love for me runs as deep as mine for her.
Currently, Nina is struggling with a large mass on her spleen, roughly the size of a soccer ball. Unfortunately, I received this news less than 2 months after putting down Pierre, after 17 long years together. To say I was devastated is an understatement.
I drove to Alabama to have Nina seen and formally diagnosed by Tuskegee Veterinary Teaching Hospital, as their costs are significantly cheaper than traditional vets. Nina's mass is so large and intertwined with fluid filled cavities, that the veterinarian was uncomfortable performing a biopsy. As of today, I am unsure of whether or not the mass is benign or malignant, but I can confirm that thankfully, it has not yet spread to other areas of her body. However, due to the size and potential for internal bleeding, the mass does need to be surgically removed relatively quickly. This would be the optimal time to have the surgery done.
The thought of losing Nina shortly after losing Pierre has been hard to deal with, but I am determined to get her the help she needs. I am asking for help to cover the costs of diagnostics, surgery, hospitalization, medications, and travel accommodations to and from Alabama. Please see below for a breakdown of costs:
Diagnostics: $440
Surgery/Hospitalization/Medications: $1200
Travel accommodations: $200
Anything that you can contribute would be greatly appreciated and I thank you for taking the time out to read about Nina's story.
