Saving Mykenzi's eye

Greetings, I'm Kimberely Martin- Mykenzi Kanski's grandmother. Though our family is notoriously private I have decided to swallow my pride to initiate this GFM to provide Myke some support & confidence through this critical phase of a lifelong battle with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis that she has endured since diagnosis at 1.5 years old. She is now 22.

It has largely affected her left eye from nearly day 1.

Mykenzi has battled valiantly through having a shunt installed in her eye to relieve pressure from JRA-induced glaucoma at a very young age by Wills Eye in Philadelphia, along with multiple surgeries, infusions of methotrexate (chemo) for years and currently infusions of Remacaid along with a hefty regimen of oral and topical meds throughout her life.

Last weekend the shunt ruptured through her eyeball and got infected with strep- Her entire eyeball is involved and they are doing everything possible to save her eye.

This fundraiser is to help her with living expenses, and the costs involved with multiple treks to & from Geisinger at Danville. While she has a very supportive family, she is projected to be out of work for up to 3 months.
