I have lived for 38 years with Type I Diabetes, since being diagnosed at age 8.

Perhaps the most devastating complication is Diabetic Retinopathy, which eventually causes blindness. I am legally blind in both my eyes, almost completely blind in my left eye. I get Eyelea shots in both my eyes every 6 weeks. The grant I was gratefully using to be able to receive that covered my eye shots, which are $4000 every time I go in, i.e. every 6 weeks.
