Barn Cat Co-op
Several months ago I stumbled upon a colony of cats that were trying to exist in a local dump. One of the cats had a large open wound behind his ear and others were emaciated and covered in filth. Property management wanted nothing to do with the colony - the cats were seen as vermin. Setting up shelters and a feeding program was not an option. The site was dangerous; there was no appropriate shelter; there was no way to feed the colony and the cats needed medical care.
I was at a loss as to what to do. That is, until I was put in contact with Kelli Geer of Barn Cat Co-op. https://www.facebook.com/BarnCatCoop/?ref=br_tf&epa=SEARCH_BOX
With Kelli Geer’s knowledge and help I was able to trap all of the cats and get them to her rescue. The cat with the open wound was treated for an abscess and infection and he along with the others were neutered/spayed and vaccinated. The cats were assessed as feral and were placed into her barn program.

(Female came out for food from under piles of garbage)

(This was "Home" for the colony)
I now volunteer for Barn Cat Co-op and I see first hand how dire the situation is for so many abandoned, homeless and feral cats. Barn Cat Co-op is 100 % donation driven and all monies go directly to the medical care of the cats as well as supplying food to the barns or foster homes.
*****************************************
In 2019 over 1000 cats from all regions of Ontario were helped by Barn Cat Co-op. And two months into 2020, medical costs have already reached in excess of $7000. This does not include two cats currently awaiting surgery - 1) a hernia repair and 2) entropion surgery - estimated cost for both is $1800 - $2000.
All funds raised will go directly toward Barn Cat Co-op’s veterinary expenses. This program couldn’t exist if it wasn’t for the kindness and generosity of people like you. Any donations will be gratefully received and acknowledged and I will continue to provide updates on the cats helped by Barn Cat Co-op.
With your help these cats can have a SECOND CHANCE. Please DIG DEEP to help these special cats, and SHARE SHARE SHARE on social media.
