Supporting me through liver cancer surgery and beyond

My name is Anna and I was diagnosed with Stage 4 colo-rectal cancer which has also spread to liver, in December 2023. I have completed chemo, radiotherapy and a major bowel operation to remove the primary tumour. The op had complications and was extremely traumatic, I am still having counselling.

Now its time to look at my liver. The surgery I can get on the NHS is extremely invasive and bigger than the bowel surgery. It involves a huge incision and having half my liver cut off where the largest tumour is, and several smaller tumours will be "nibbled" off. There is a high risk, like all cancer surgeries, of cancerous cells breaking loose and seeding themselves in another part of my body. The recovery is long and my life will be affected by this every single day. I cannot bear the thought of having this surgery after learning what it really means following the bowel surgery.

There is an alternative - a procedure called Histotripsy. It is a type of ultrasound which is targeted at the tumours and forms bubbles inside the cancer cells, bursting them. There is no incision, no lengthy recovery, no loss of liver and minimal pain. It can be done in 30 minutes and you go home very quickly. Although being trailed in the UK, it won't be available for 18 months. I don't have to luxury of waiting. America is the only place to go.

But...of course... it costs money. So i am asking for your help in fundraising £32000 to add to the money I have squirrelled away over the years to help me avoid traumatic and invasive surgery.

The total surgery and associated costs will total around $51000. Please help me however you can - sharing this post, cake sales, sponsored events, beetle drives - whatever you can think of. I have a son, the most beautiful child, and I want to live for him.
