Saving Marvin’s Life

Marvin’s story

Marvin Reyes, a loving husband and father of 2 young children, was just 43 years old when he got the heartbreaking news that he had been diagnosed with hypertension (high blood pressure) and diabetes. He had a mild heart attack (stroke) when he discovered of such illnesses. Despite of all the setbacks and undoubtedly the hardest year of his life, his family’s life, he was able to still perform, serve, protect and love his family as hope grew that Marvin was on the mend and full recovery. His condition continued to improve following the mild stroke and was able to start living their lives again, return to work as they began to plan for his young family’s future.

Tragedy strikes, again!

On Tuesday, 24 October 2023, his daughter CJ, found him on the floor in one of the rooms while on his night shift at 5:30 am. She called her mum, Jacque and they have managed to bring Marvin to the emergency room in the hospital right away through an ambulance. After a series of tests, the doctors have confirmed he had a brain hemorrhage due to his current health condition. He was immediately sent to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after monitoring for less than 12 hours which was raised to “Code 1” alert. His oxygen level decreased and blood pressure increased that led the doctors and staff to decide to intubate him. Doctors are currently monitoring his condition because he had multiple issues following the heart attack from pneumonia to kidney damage and so on that requires him to undergo daily dialysis and remain in ICU. Big thanks to the doctors and all the staff for their wisdom and knowledge to act swiftly.

The doctors/specialists met his wife and other extended family members and said that there is high probability that once Marvin surpassed all of the above-mentioned concerns, he would be permanently disabled with range of disabilities including limb weakness, visual problems, and language and communication issues that will require on-going therapy for the next 2 years.

From the moment we’ve heard and seen the facts and reality of Marvin’s condition which seemed an impossible challenge after impossible challenge to overcome, we stayed positive and in faith, will fight hard and believe as a family and with the incredible support around us that he will recover and live his life to the fullest.

How we can save Marvin and his family.

Our hospital running bill in just less than 24 hours has reached to AUD $11,200 (PHP 400K) but we still don't have clear instructions from the doctors. We were told that Marvin might be in ICU for the next 10 to 14 days, depending on his condition. Looking at all of the options available in the Philippines like PWD discount, Maxicare, Philhealth and even their family’s savings, we still need to raise at least AUD $150,000 (PHP 5.4 million) to save his life.

We cannot do this without your help, which is why I am here to ask you to share our page, spread the word, pray and donate whatever you can to help save the life of a wonderful husband and father.

We pray that we can raise the funds to get him back to his normal life so he can continue to fight for the life that he deserves! Marvin has changed many lives and deserves a chance to live again.

We will be donating any extra money to other patient and their families in the same situation as us. We pledged to give back to this community in the Philippines from the moment we were entrusted with your support - This is something we will always honour.

Thank you all for your energy, love, support and prayers - it lifts us and carries us through this terrifying journey.

May God bless you a thousand folds! What is impossible to men is possible with God!

Much love,
